Latent Class Analysis - A Potential Important Tool for Research on CAT

http://members.aol.com/KMarkus/lca.html

It is a useful site for beginner, even for experienced guys.

A temporary final version. Minor adjustments and improvements are possible, but I stop here.

It is an application of SEM. Here there are three blocks: Stress - independent variable (IV), Cofering - mediator variable (MV), and Epusement - indepedent variable (IV). For more information about mediator, please refer to the classic reference on this topic is Baron, R. M., & Kenny, D. A. (1986). The moderator-mediator variable distinction in social psychological research: Conceptual, strategic, and statistical considerations. Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 51, 1173-1182. This model is implemented with AMOS. The difficulty I face now is how to adjust it according to modification indices.

What is my future plan?

I am contacting some excellent programs on measurement and accessment provided by American universities, and I will go to US for my Ph.D if receive satisfied offter. Of course, I wish my visa will not prevent my trip there. From my point of view, there are potentially great requirement on standard computerized exams in each field considering its convenience and efficiency, not only for the examinees, but the examiners. In China, my home country, no much work has been done in this field (a big opportunity for me?). For such a country with long history of testing, who can image its future requirement? For so big a population, I believe, CAT is the definit direction. Therefore, choosing CAT will not be wrong. Wish you join our team!!

MCAT and Factor Analysis

Multidimensional CAT is based on factor analysis theory, so it worth our talking here about them.

LISREL, AMOS and EQS

LISREL, AMOS, and EQS are three popular statistical packages for doing SEM. The first two are distributed by SPSS. LISREL popularized SEM in sociology and the social sciences and is still the package of reference in most articles about structural equation modeling. AMOS (Analysis of MOment Structures) is a more recent package which, because of its user-friendly graphical interface, has become popular as an easier way of specifying structural models. AMOS also has a BASIC programming interface as an alternative. See R. B. Kline (1998). Software programs for structural equation modeling: AMOS, EQS, and LISREL. Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment (16): 343-364.

about AMOS

Recently I am studying Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), and professor Marc introduced me AMOS, which, I feel, is easier to use than LISREL. You can install a free student version, and find helpful information at: http://www.utexas.edu/its/rc/tutorials/stat/amos/. Try it !

Computerized Adaptive Testing

Computerized Adaptive Testing

Welcome to Shun Kai's BLOGGER on CAT

Introduce myself

Hi:

Welcome to my BLOG about Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT), and wish we can share something on this interesting field here.

My name is Shun Kai Fu, currently a master candidate of Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, Canada. I am doing some work on CAT, including unidimensional and multidimensional.

You can send email to shukai.fu@polymtl.ca or shunkai.fu@gmail.com any time.

Just these for this time, and I will come back with more information.

See you...
